Joshua 12:7a

Here is a list of the kings of the land that Joshua and the Israelites conquered

Here and throughout the Bible God seems to be quite a list maker. Here he lists the Kings that were conquered, other places he lists genealogies, he even gave a list of 10 commandments. What kind of list do we make? Do we keep a list of the wrongs people have done? Do we keep a list of our sins? Do we keep a list of our failures? With God as our example, let's make list of our successes, our history,  and our plans to do good things.

Lord, help us to remember only what we can learn from. Help us to remember when we have followed your will. Help us plan for success in the future. Amen.

Joshua 4:21-22

He said to the Israelites, "In the future when your descendants ask their parents, 'What do these stones mean?' Tell them 'Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.'

Do I have any memorials from the great moments of God in my life? That is a good question. I am going to have to think about that for a while. It's such a good idea to create or a sign or a memorial to help us remember those times when God really showed us that he was alive and working in our lives.

Lord, help me to remember to do this. Help me to look back over my life and see your work. Help me to recognize it when you are working in my life right now and help me to memorialize it so that I will remember in the future. Amen.
