Psalm 99:3 - Awesome

Let them praise your great and awesome name—
     he is holy.

A few years ago the I heard a minister talk about the word "awesome" and how we use it so flippantly. "Wow, this pizza is totally awesome!" He suggested that this word should be reserved for things that truly are worthy of the expression. The Lord God Almighty is awesome!!

Lord, thank you for being so amazing we need words like awesome to describe you. Please help us to offer you the holy praise and reverence due to you. Amen.

Malachi 4:2

But for you who revere my name, The sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves.

I love the imagery of well fed calves frolicking in the sun. As we go through life hard things will happen and the verse before this talks about the arrogant and evil doer who will be set on fire, but those who love God and revere his name have nothing to fear.

God, help me to always remember that image of the frolicking well fed calf in the sun. I trust you God. I can take comfort and peace in that trust. Lord, I revere your name. Amen
