They sell the innocent for silver,
and the needy for a pair of sandals.
Among the list of atrocities attributed to the Israelites is their treatment of the poor. I believe God gives us the weak (or allows us to be the weak) so that the strong will realize everyone is made stronger when the stronger support the weak.
Lord, thank you for giving us the poor. Please help us to treat the poor with respect and assistance. Amen.

1 Corinthians 8:9 - Freedom vs. responsibility
Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak.
We are free in Christ. A person who has been a Christian for a long time had gained knowledge about those freedoms, but a new Christian may have not. This passage is about meat sacrificed to idols. Because there really are no other Gods, a Christian may understand that there is no harm in eating that meat, but a new Christian, especially one who was influenced by the idol or god the meat was sacrificed to, would feel like eating that meat was a sin. So, the long time Christian should not eat this meat when they are with the new Christian. I think drinking alcohol may fall into this category. Can you think of other freedoms we may need to give up for the sake of a weaker brother?
Lord, thank you for our freedoms in Christ. Please help us to limit ourselves in those freedoms if it will cause someone else to stumble, Amen,

1 Corinthians 1:27 - Weak and foolish
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
God wants us to rely on him. Good uses the weak and the foolish because the glory belongs to him, it is his power and wisdom. Our righteousness, holiness and redemption is not to our credit, We have nothing to boast about except the Lord.
Lord, thank you for choosing us. Please help us to remember all the glory is due to you for our salvation. Amen.

Psalm 26:2 - Test me
Test me, Lord, and try me, examine my heart and my mind;
Wow. That is a bold thing to ask. "Test me, Lord." I don't think I have ever asked God to test me. Usually I am asking for peace and comfort. The purpose of a test is to check our knowledge and understanding, to confirm we have learned the lessons presented to us. It also shows us where we are weak and need to improve. I feel pretty mature and strong in my faith. Is it time for a test?
Lord, thank you for bringing me to my current level of faith. Please test me, Lord, and try me, examine my heart and mind. Amen.

Psalm 18:37 - Pursue your "sin enemies"!
I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.
If our enemy is sin, them the Psalms give a great deal of good advice for dealing with sin. This passage states we pursue our enemies and overtake them. I have always thought of fighting sin as a passive thing, simple avoidance. But this verse suggests we take it head on! Go after our sin and defeat it! Honestly it has never occurred to me to be aggressive towards the removal of sin in my life. We don't just have to be on the defense, we can be on the offense. We are not weak, we are strong with the strength of the Lord!!
Lord, thank you for giving us revelations and "AHA!" moments from your word. Please help us to purse our "sin enemies" and defeat them. Amen.
