No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
This verse is very important to me. Not only is is a powerful message, but it is one of the verses I memorized in the study which began my regular (almost daily) bible study and blog. I find it interesting that although I had learned this (and other) verses independently, coming across one of these verses in my study of a book really solidifies it's location in the bible for me.
Lord, thank you for your Word. Please help us to memorize and retain passages of scripture. Amen.

Psalm 69:5 - My sin
You, God, know my folly;
my guilt is not hidden from you.
We all have our sins, our addictions, our temptations, our follies. As I have discussed before, I have food issues. In the past I have been hesitant to call this sin, but I think it may be time to call it what it is: sin. Why is it so hard to resist? Why can't I just say no to the donuts in the break room or what ever is available? Why do I feel cheated if I go out to a restaurant and order a healthy meal? Why can't I stop after eating a reasonable sized portion of food? Well, God knows my folly. He sees my guilt and thankfully, offers forgiveness.
Lord, thank you for knowing us, loving us, and forgiving us. Please help us to stop sinning. Amen.
my guilt is not hidden from you.

Psalm 28:3 - Behind their back
Do not drag me away with the wicked,
with those who do evil,
who speak cordially with their neighbors
but harbor malice in their hearts.
I am too easily swayed by the opinions of people around me. When someone is talking negatively about a person, I may join in the negative talk. If I do, when I see that person it is so hard for me to look them in the eye and treat them with respect. In one sense it is good, it is hard for me to "speak cordially but harbor malice." But, I don't have to worry about this if I don't talk bad about people in the first place.
Lord, thank you for the wisdom of your word. Lord help me to only speak and think kind thoughts about people. Amen.
