Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
for as many years as we have seen trouble.
This is kind of a strange statement, but I get it. Life is so full of trouble, pain and sorrow. It is an affliction. Yet we ask God to help us see this affliction as a blessing and to be glad.
Lord, thank you for life, with all it's trouble. Please help us to see every year as a blessing. Amen.

Psalm 39:5 - Everyone is but a breath
You have made my days a mere handbreadth;
the span of my years is as nothing before you.
Everyone is but a breath,
even those who seem secure.
Life moves so fast. We are sending our son off to college. I can hardly believe that time has already come. Not only does life move fast, but we never know when our life will end. We have to make the most of our days, using all of our time and energy to bring glory to God.
Lord, thank you for the time you have given us on Earth. Help us to use that time to bring glory to you. Amen.

Woke up late
Lord, I'm so sorry. I woke up late today and won't have time to study. I don't feel very well. My stomach hurts, I feel a little queasy. Please help me get through today. Amen.

Philippians 1: 21
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
What a beautiful statement. It really boils down our entire existence. This is our purpose. If God is giving us breath, then it is our job to glorify Him. there is no other reason to live but Christ. Even when Paul makes this statement in chains, he recognizes his purpose.
Lord, help me to recognize my true purpose on this earth. I get so focused on the here and now and I forget to do the things I am meant to do. Lord, make your will and my path clear. Amen
