so David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?”
The Lord answered him, “Go, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your hands.”
David sought after God's will. He did not trust in his own strength or mind. The Philistines were attacking David. Common sense would dictate fighting back, if not to conquer then at least to defend yourself. But David went to as secure place and prayed. How many times to we rush in to a new project or commitment without praying first? We may not hear an audible voice like David did, but if we ask for guidance, the answer will be made clear.
Lord, thank you for being with us and guiding us. Please help us to remember to pray before we act. Amen.

1 Corinthians 13:3 - Love
If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Before I begin, I need to make a confession. I have not done my morning study for 15 days. That may be the longest stretch of non-study I have gone since I began. I've had a hard time waking up in the mornings. I am praying for God to help me restore/create better sleep patterns so I will get back to my "First Fruits of the Day"study.
The passage above is part of the "Love Chapter". It is so familiar and a great place to go to for a refresher on what love is and is not. It clearly emphasises that love is the most important thing, This world and all of the good (and bad) in it will pass away and all that will remain is love. We can do lots of good deeds and suffer for our cause, but if love is not at the root of our actions, nothing is gained.
Lord, thank you for teaching us to love. Please help us to keep love at the root of all we do. Amen,

Romans 5:18 - One righteous act
Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people.
Sometimes we do not think our actions have much effect, but in the passage above two acts made a world of difference for man kind, The first sin of man brought sin into this world and Christ being crucified brought salvation. Our actions may not produce world altering results, but our actions do matter and may have a much larger result than we could ever imagine, for good or bad,
Lord, thank you for sending Christ to perform his most important righteous act. Please use us and make our every action be multiplied for good. Amen.
