My comfort in my suffering is this:
Your promise preserves my life.
This section of Psalm 119 is about the hope and comfort found in the law. As Christians, we also find hope and comfort in the word. Primarily this comes from the knowledge that no matter what we suffer on this earth, as a follower we know our final destination is with God in heaven.
Lord, thank you for the comfort and hope you give us. Please help us to live every day with salvation in our hearts. Amen.

Psalm 113:9 - God cares about our problems
He settles the childless woman in her home
as a happy mother of children.
Praise the Lord.
We all have struggles in this life. In the two verses before this one tells how God helps the poor and needy and raises them up. The wonderful thing is that God cares about our problems. He sees us. He knows our pain and struggles and he offers comfort for his children, his followers. Sometimes God takes the pain or problem away and sometimes he helps us bear through it, but either way his love is evident.
Lord, thank you for caring about our problems. Please help us to always seek you when we are struggling and be willing to go through the situation with you by our side. Amen.

Psalms 91:4 - Refuge
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
Sometimes we just want to feel safe. We want to feel wanted, comforted and at home. God is that safe haven for us. He is our refuge. He will always accept us, no matter what, no matter what we have done, no matter who we have hurt, no matter who has hurt us, God will take us in. When we give up and give in to him, we have found our refuge.
Lord, thank you for being our refuge. Help us to give in to you. Amen,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

Psalm 61:4 - Home
I long to dwell in your tent forever
and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.
I want to go home. It is a phrase which means so many things. Sometimes home means an actual place. Other times it means family or a comfortable feeling. Home is something we all long for. Our true home is in heaven. There is nowhere on this earth which can compare. "This world is not my home, I just am passing through."
Lord, thank you for giving us a taste of home here on earth so we know what to look forward to in heaven. Please help us to always remember our true home is with you. Amen.

1 Thessalonians 2:11-12 - The family of believers Part 3
For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.
Paul compares fatherhood to teaching the gospel to the people of Thessolonica. When sharing the gospel and working with new Christians, it is important to be encouraging and comforting while at the same time urging them to live Christlike lives as children of God.
Lord, thank you for being our Father and offering us loving patience. Please help us to treat new Christians as you treat us. Amen.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 - The purpose of our comfort
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
God is so gracious to us and comforts us in our trials and suffering. We have to remember the reason we are comforted is so that we can pass that comfort on to others who need it.
Lord, thank you for your comfort. Please help us to comfort other. Amen.
